Installing iPhone hacks made easy with hands-on tutorial – Windows Edition (at last)

It has been only 2 days since folks at Gizmodo published the really helpful hands-on tutorial to load the updated version of "Installer.app" onto your iPhone making it very easy to install unauthorized third-party native applications (or iPhone hacks) onto your iPhone.
However, at that point the step by step guide was only available for MAC OS X users and the only advice I had for iPhone users who had Windows computers though not very helpful was to borrow their friend's MAC for 15 minutes to load "Installer.app" on your iPhone.  Not any more, as the great folks at Gizmodo have now published the Windows edition of the hands-on tutorial.

"Preparation:
  • Download iBricker from here and the Installer application package from here.
  • Connect your iPhone to your computer using the provided cable.
  • Deactivate the iPhone automatic synchronization in iTunes before proceeding and close iTunes.
Steps:
  • Run iBrickr. iBrickr is the Windows application that makes it dead simple to modify your iPhone, add and manage custom ringtones, and install third-party applications.
  • It will guide you through the steps to do the Jailbreak, the process that will allow you to install Nullriver's Installer apps (as well as many other cool things.)
  • Once you have performed the Jailbreak, install the Installer.pxl package from the Applications view.
You might find the video below of using iBrick by NateTrue, the iPhone hacking genius himself quite useful:

Installing applications:
  • The iPhone will restart and you will find a new icon in your home screen:
  • You can disconnect the iPhone cable now, as the installation of apps happen over the air using Wi-Fi or EDGE. If you want, enable automatic sync in iTunes before disconnecting.
  • Open the Installer application by tapping in the icon on your iPhone home screen.
  • Before installing any new applications, update the Installer itself by clicking on the "Update" tab. If it doesn't show anything, don't worry. You are up to date.
When you start Installer you will see only a handfull of applications. They are Nullriver's apps, which include a BSD Subsystem and MobileTerminal. To access all third-party software available, do the following:
  • Click on the Install tab now. It will connect to the Internet and register the available packages.
  • Click on Community Resources package inside the Install tab.
  • You will see the detail. Click on the Install button.
  • After installing, you will see all the third-party applications currently available for iPhone (some of them are missing, however. Hopefully they will add them soon.)
  • Before start installing new applications, install the Launcher application.
Why? The iPhone springboard (the home screen) won't scroll, so if you install many applications, you won't be able to access some of them. The Launcher gives you a way to access all non-Apple apps from a scrollable list
  • After installing Launcher, go to the home screen. You will see that the interface will initialize itself and the new application icon will appear.
  • Go back to the Installer app, select any new app you want, hit the Install button and enjoy."

iPhone
Like the one for MAC, this seems really easy to install and should be a great boon for all those technically shy iPhone users who have Windows who until now did not have cool GUI based tools like iFuntastic which was available for MAC users to check out the latest iPhone Hacks.
Before you go hack your iPhone, it is important to mention here the warning on the developer's site:
WARNING: This software comes with absolutely no warranty of any kind. If it should cause any harm to your iPhone or data, we shall not be held responsible. Such is the nature of preview (Beta) software.
Gizmodo, thanks guys once again for the hands-on tutorial - Windows Edition & many thanks to folks at Nullriver for one of the best software (hack) that has been made for the iPhone. Excellent stuff!
This has made us that much more impatient for new iPhone unauthorized applications.
Don't forget to vote for this iPhone hack in the poll for the "Best iPhone Hacks".
